Apologies if this has been covered previously but I've only just noticed that there are 14 teams in the league and we only have 22 fixtures. We should have 26 surely? Anyone know what's going on?

It's correct. You play 4 of the teams just once, and supposedly, the 9 teams nearest to you twice. Cut down on travel distances for lower league teams, or something

Cheers for clearing that up, I thought I was going mad when I looked at the fixture list. It's absolute madness though, how is this fair? The final league table will not be a true representation of the league because there will be four outstanding fixtures. Crackers. This wouldn't happen in any other "professional" sport.

You are right. This stupid pre-season cup thing whatever it is called should be scrapped and just start the league season with everybody playing everybody home and away.

I've had a quick glance at the fixtures and it looks like we miss out on:
York away
London home
Oxford away
Gloucester home

So the only long distance we've avoided is an away trip to Oxford.

I wonder who avoids the difficult away games at North Wales, Barrow and Newcastle.

Unbalanced systems like this leave the rfl wide open to the accusation that they have "rigged" the fixtures to suit their "favourites" ;-) Not that we would ever accuse them of that :-)

Stable,bolted, horse, open,door?

You can only play the cards you are dealt, even if you think the dealer is dodgy.

Distance thing is a Joke - There are only 2 teams from Yorkshire in this league and they only place each other once - The RFL never cease to amaze

Just the usual shambles we are used to from the RFL.

Brings back memories of one of my Grandads favourite
if crude sayings : " Eeeeh lad , tha can't polish a turd "

Sort of sums it up.
