Post subject:  The season ahead

What is everyone's thoughts on how the 2015 season will go?

Are we all happy with the squad? Need any more players?

I feel we need to be looking at top 2. A worry is will the players be focuessed with the long trips?
Does first get you up and rest in play offs?

Top six make play offs.

First v Second - Winner Promoted
Third v Sixth - Loser Eliminated
Fourth v Fifth - Loser Eliminated

Highest placed winner v Lowest placed winner - Loser Eliminated

Loser First/Second v Winner of Week Two - Winner Promoted

To be honest, I haven't really examined the squad. The close season has been a bit surreal.

Although I think Sheriffe will really step forward at prop, I think we need another aggressive, powerful forward who can give a decent spell both in attack and defence without puffing and panting like a steam engine. We were at our most effective last year when our exchange props performed as well as the starting props.

Tiger and Jones had some great games last year, but we need the rest of the backs to stay switched on to what they are doing. Too many missed and dropped passes. Teach all the backs how to catch a high ball! The full back last year was afraid of the ball and either muffed it completely or let it bounce.

Play every game like its a must win. We treated some fixtures like casual fore-drawn conclusions and ended up with our pants down.

Everyone needs to be fit, last year some were clearly not, either that or they liked their beer ;-)

We should be capable of finishing in contention for top spot but I'm sure there are several other teams who are looking for the same. Can we do it? I think it will be more difficult than some might think but we have to at least aim high with conviction and effort and not just expect victories to "happen".

I'm actually looking forward to it.
