Well it’s been a while since I posted, but I have enjoyed reading everyone’s take on events, I did get a sense in the few weeks after the season finished that if nothing else came out of this it seemed to bring the fans together with a common cause against the RFL, and we were going to stand shoulder to shoulder with the club(regardless of who is running the club) remember the club is not just about one man one coach, we all as fans have a stake in the club. Well true to form it didn’t last. It seems some of us have decided the fights over, and so is there love affair with the club and Rugby League. I think it is with regards to what division we will be playing in Championship 1 it is, it’s about the money now, we have heard nothing from the club, Why!, Am no legal expert but I would imagine the legal team on both sides are now engaged, and both sides are under legal obligations or orders from their respective legal teams not to comment any further in case it damages their respective cases. As for next season, bring it on, a real chance of silverware, New Teams, yes I would have preferred the Bulls, but it wasn’t to be. We have kept at least 80% of last year’s team and yes we were not good enough last year but looking at the games we lost, only Leigh away and Widnes in the Cup gave us a hiding, (and I thought the lads at Widnes put a real effort in) the rest we were not far off, so I think we should be in the mix at least. As for David March, he may not look like the typical modern day Rugby League Player, but he had a massive hand in getting Hunslet promoted, ask any Hunslet supporter how valuable they thought he was, plus check his try scoring record while at Hunslet, any winger or centre would be proud of that record. For me a big part of the Cougars has always been about the friends I have met over the years. Having a few beers before and after the game meeting some great people and characters both home and away supporters, in the past I have had my issues with the people who ran the club then, but I love the game and the club and that would never stop me going down, with good health I hope to enjoy many more years watching Keighley and also watching players, coaches and chairman come and go and for that matter fans as well. And finally last season take away the DR, Batley and Doncaster points fiasco, I yet again enjoyed my time watching the Cougars roller-coaster ride, for years we moaned the results didn’t matter, but that last game what drama what emotion, players and fans in tears, it’s what sport should be about, we lost on the day, but that’s sport folks now roll on next season, hope to see you all down there, I cant wait! |
