The following extract is from the Northern Pride website:
"Demetriou, 38, guided the Pride to consecutive minor premierships in the past two seasons, with the side defeating Easts Tigers to claim this year’s Intrust Super Cup crown.

A week later, the Club travelled to Sydney to take on VB NSW Cup champions the Penrith Panthers and defied the odds to win that fixture 32-28 on NRL Grand Final day to complete an unprecedented treble.

The former UK Super League star leaves the Pride with a coaching record of 40 wins from 51 games with the Club – a remarkable winning percentage of 78 per cent."

Not bad going that!!!

Yes JD had a certain charisma and I hope he goes far. However, just to remind everyone, he did have a big budget, high profile signings, and Cougarmania mark 2 was in the air. However crowds remained poor, results were mixed, and he was off. With 5 relegated this year and the Batley fiasco our better results this yaer were still not good enough to stay up by a whisker, but the wearing of rose tinted specs isn't particularly helping. As for Baz, we were relegated under him (even allowing for points difference )when 2 went down and the sight of him on TV ranting and raving in a pathetic manner at the awful match v Fev lives in the memory. Marchy isn't everones cup of tea but we could do a lot worse.

I'm not sure why you post this on what is a celebration of an ex cougar coach achieving an exemplary record in Australia and gaining promotion to assistant coach of an NRL side. A position that most ex and current coaching staff would sell their granny for.

JD and the Chairman said at the time that he didn't have a big budget, most of the "names" came because of JD (and followed him to Aus).

I'm not sure what Cougarmania II was, I must have missed it .

You say crowds remained poor, what do you think they are now!!! The only good crowds we've had are when the away team bring support.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to mention Barry Eaton, he has no relevance to the subject whatsoever.

Poor effort, must try harder ;-)
