Spoke to a contact of mine at Red Hall today. (Nothing to do with appeal) and he explained how next season's Challenge Cup would work if the RFL draft plan goes through. They're trying for a May final so brackets work out as May/August Round One (December): 153 Amateur Clubs (NCL Conference, RFL Conference & Invited participants), Irish and Scottish Champions, 2 Student Teams, 3 Armed Forces Teams enter. Round Two (December/January): 80 First Round Winners Round Three (January/February): 14 League One Clubs and Two French Clubs joined by forty second round winners. Round Four (January/March): 12 Championship Clubs joined by 28 third round winners. Round Five (February/April): 12 Super League clubs joined by 20 fourth round winners. Round Six (February/May): 16 fifth round winners. Quarter Finals (March/June): 8 sixth round winners. Semi Finals (April/July): 4 quarter finals winners. FINAL (May/August): 2 semi finals winners. |
