Amazed the wife came up with this one after reading the league express but it's possibly the better outcome under the circumstances to appease all concerned clubs.

The league table remains as it is for the sake of the play offs - it would only get messy otherwise.

The rfl reinstate cougars in to the championship - 13 team league, after the super 8's the bottom team is relegated to C1

The RFL acknowledge the rule breach of both Doncaster and Batley by way of a reduction of competition monies to the value of the league position payment they would have received should the points deduction have taken effect.

The teams affected, Whitehaven, Keighley and Sheffield are compensated by payment to the final league table position they would have taken should the points deduction have taken effect against Doncaster & Batley for the breaching of the rules.

Would this be fair?
Would the RFL apply such a ruling?
Would the club's involved agree to the ruling?

Okay but haven't Sheffield and Whitehaven lost out with the play offs, Sheffield from the gate receipts at Leigh and home advantage in the next round (and there was always the chance they may have beaten Leigh ... we'll never know) and Whitehaven by not taking part! Of course compansation ££££££££££££££££££££££££££££££ may overcome any difficulties.

Not sure that I understand that, I thought P&R would occur automatically between the championship and C1!

True enough, there's never going to be a clear cut solution to this.

Sheffield are still in the playoffs and would be guaranteed to receive their lost income, they may well be happy with that.?

Whitehaven on the other hand, why are they not creating a stink for missing out on extra cash and the playoffs?

Re the bottom team to be relegated, if that's the case then there would be 2 relegated and 1 promoted

2015 Championship bottom two relegated after conclusion of Super 8 stage. League One Champions up automatically with 2-7 playing Play Offs.

There is also the knock on effect to championship 1 if only 4 teams are relegated then the C1 clubs have two less games so less revenue. Again £££££££££££££££££££££££££££ from the RL can help but where does it end, the RL end up paying a lot of money to try and make right the wrong or just stick out and say tuff!

To be honest I agree that this would be sensible and wasn't too dissimilar from a suggestion I put on another thread. I would suspect that Haven are not jumping up and down as they have a guilty mind and as current/past rule breakers are not really in a strong position for appeal. If people like us are thinking of sensible solutions I cannot understand the defiance of the RFL. I think the club have performed this whole saga with an incredible amount of dignity. They have not got into a slanging match against the RFL as easy as that could have been and credit to the board for this. Whatever we as fans think of the RFL, the club have kept the press releases very professional and long may this continue.
