Cougars were definitely a better footballing team than Halifax. Well on course for a famous victory up to Buster's try. But then nothing else went right in the last 15 minutes. Sure all involved will enjoy the trip to Widnes whatever the outcome. Then a win at Whitehaven would really get the show back on the road. Come on Cougars! Dig in!

Well, I thought Fax were second best for a lot of the match. I suppose it's just the way we fans see things - us with our red & green tinted glasses on and the Fax fans with their blue & white ones. I don't know how we managed to lose that game really, we had so much good position and good possession for such long periods, yet we just couldn't turn it into points against Fax's mean defence which was really very good. Ours was good too when we were up the field but whenever Fax got near our line I always got that nervous feeling that they were about to go over - and they usually did. Wish we could defend our line better! Discipline and handling errors cost us again too - we gave too much to Fax in the way of penalties and restarts in their favour. . I still wish Danny Jones would vary his kick-offs and re-starts and also back himself a bit more when he breaks the opposition line. A few stray passes again today too. . During his interview on Radio Leeds after the game Marchy dropped a big hint that our team at Widnes will not be our strongest; he said there'll be several players on show who haven't had much game time this season. Whilst it's right that the Haven game is looming large after the Widnes game (thanks RFL!), I've little desire to see us take a right pounding at Widnes, especially with it being on the box as well.

The game could have gone either way, then White (I think?) went in touch from the long kick after very nearly getting free. Lots of errors, certainly a disappointment not to get a point but overall we couldn't get the killer pass through, Handforth could have scored I reckon but opted for readable grubbers.
Still 12 points from 15. To be honest we could do without this Widnes game, we could also do without the Haven fixture being on Tuesday the week after. Ridiculous! 4 rest days then a trip up to Cumbria, players having to take time off for both games. I hope March plays Ben Stead and puts out a weaker team, We aren't going to beat widnes but we certainly can and potentially need to beat Whitehaven.

Thats was a game we could have won. It was a poor Fax team.
We seem to be a bit unorginised in the first have. Tiger was ripping into the team at one point as players were not where they should be during attack. Fax found it easy to score against as there was big gaps in our defence.
The play was never going to flow with a ref like that. I am not one to knock refs as it is a very hard job to do. But he was really very poor.

I had to laugh when one fax fan said he had given us everything?! Granted he missed a head shot which caused a knock on, but other that I found his inconsistent interpretation of laying on somewhat frustrating.
I heard one fan pretty much sum it up after the game. They were clinical when they got their chances, we weren't. I think Adam sums that up in Micky's video. Fax were definitely there for the taking and we let them get away.

Good effort from the lads but a few too many mistakes and a good solid Halifax defence cost us. Cant understand why there's no place in the team for Peltier!
