Looking at wikipedia last year we only had 2 home league matches with a crowd over 1000, v fax and v fev.

This year we have had 2 home matches and and have already matched that.

2013 v whitehaven = 712 349 increase
2014 v whitehaven = 1061

2013 v leigh = 859 450 increase
2014 v leigh = 1309

whats everyones thoughts on the reasons behind this?
Discounted tickets?
Better team?
More away fans?
Reintroduction of P/R to super league?
The fact 5 teams go down this year?
Weather?

No matter what the reasons are though this can only be a good thing :D :D :D :D

Don't know how many discounted tickets we sold for the 2 games!! I have the feeling that promotion and relegation has a great deal to do with it. Still would like to see more Cougar fans down there though.

Most attendances appear to be up vs last year across the Championship, However Halifax and Featherstone appear to have lost supporters so far based on the games they've had so far.

Agree that we still need to grow the fan base again.

The reason for low attendances, championship wide was simple and still is.

Nothing to play for.

When there is , it creates interest which is why P & R has been brought back.

The biggest scam though is that the "top" SL clubs get most of the dosh " cos they are worth it" to keep them there

It's very encouraging. It's probably a combination of the reasons you've listed. Obviously Leigh will have brought quite a few over on Sunday (they reckon about 400 looking at their forum page) so the next real test will be the Sheffield game I think. If we break the 1000 barrier again for that one things will really be looking up. A win up in Cumberland a week on Sunday would go some way towards making that more likely.

Last years home crowd v Sheffield was 623 so yeah I guess if we break 1000 then that would be an achievment.

If the team keep improving, I'm sure attendances will keep creeping up. Let's hope we beat Wath Brow and Workington in good fashion. I can't imagine 1000 for the Sheffield game, in 2012 the attendance was 948 so I think we'll still be reliant on good away support to get over 1000.

Bring back the Cougar Crawl years !!

As a Leigh fan, always enjoyed my trip to Lawkhome Lane (sorry) and its a club I have a soft spot for. Remember 4-5k regularly packed in the 90's.

Onward and upwards, and if you continue to play like you have, relegation will not be an issue this season.

Another increase on last years attendance :D
