I have always been a glass half full man myself and looking back at the 2013 season compared with the perceived 'golden days' of 2012 it seems that 2013 was not quite as bad as it was supposed. We won exactly the same number of games in 2013 as 2012 (8) but lost the 'extra games' as there were 26 games in 2013 as opposed to 18 in 2012. We have two more points in 2013 (33) whereas in 2012 we only managed 31 points. The 2012 season stats are in brackets and all refer to the Championship:
Points scored per game – 18.9 (21.9)
Points conceded per game – 27.6 (20.4)
Tries Scored – 86 (71) Top try scorer – Paul White 13 (Craig Moss 10)
Goals scored – 66 (57) Top goal scorer – Scott Leatherbarrow 53 (Danny Lawton 37)

Biggest wins – Home to York 34-0, away to Whitehaven 52-18
Biggest defeat – away to Leigh 12-62

York and Hunslet finished bottom of the league in 2012 with 7 and 10 points but were not relegated. This season they were relegated with 26 and 30 points.

Some good stats there. I still think improvement is needed and before the start i thought we would do ok again.

I think I thought we had a better team than we did have if i am honest. Do I think we will be better next season? Yes.

So what do we need for super league 2? top 10 is it or top 8

I dont think the amount of injuries helped ate the start of the season.
Also making use of the D/R players was a waste of time as well.

They say there are "lies, damn lies and statistics" so hard to compare the two seasons in reality and JD was a hard act to follow so maybe we should judge Marchie on his second season. Looking back we should have beaten Swinton and Whitehaven down here and maybe a couple of games away. Then we could have been in the play-offs perhaps. Don't think Fergie would have lasted so long at Man U if he had not had an understanding chairman.

JD was a hard act to follow, in more ways than one. He was good for this club and we miss him.
We had a good run in the lower league followed by a masterful playoff. Our life in the championship was eased by heavy pitches and wet weather, but as soon as pitches dried up so did our results. We had a lot of forward dominated games without the backs touching the ball. We also got a few spankings.
As a coach, JD was a "work in progress" and Australia is the next stage of his development. I'm sure he'll be assistant at a top club before long, then who knows - we might see him back in SL.
He was a genuinely nice bloke and the best thing to happen to our club in a long time but it seems like some people are looking at 2012 on field performances through rose tinted specs.
