Post subject:  Goal-kicking full-back please

What would help the squad is something Keighley has probably needed since the 1970's - a full-back who is a top quality kicker. With the ebbing confidence in the squad now, it would really help to have a top-class goal kicker so that every penalty awarded in the opponents' half or certainly 40 metre area would result in an attempt at goal. This allows time for the players to compose themselves and agree the game plan for the next ten minutes. With the way penalties go it could result in say three successful penalties each half - which is in itself worth three tries a match. Another bonus would be such a full-back who also had the skill and ability to gain 40 or 50 metres upfield with every penalty kick to touch from hand. The club should be scouring rugby union at the level below their top professional level to find such a player to offer a trial run. It's probably too late for this season, unless the directors have contacts in England, Wales and Scotland (even Ireland) who could make recommendations? Not sure if the club has any sort of scouting system at all? Don't like to have to say it, but the current owners of the club don't seem to give out any indication that they understand rugby, seeming to concentrate more on pub/nightclub type operations. Doing things to get 500 on the average gate at home matches is worth more than 365 comedy nights.
