1400 odd crowd. Keighley did as well as expected?

Sheffield next up? Bring it on.

I thought we let ourselves down in parts today. Looking round the other games, we appeared to have suffered a bit. I know it's easy to say without knowing what went on in those games, but I expected it a bit closer. A defeat was always on the cards, but I thought we'd make a better fist of it.

Fair play to the Wolves though. Very professional and good luck to them.

The Wolves were indeed very professional. They ripped us to bits in that period early in the second half. It seems the super league forward pass issue hasn't gone away though; such passes seem to be allowed at that level. I do wish we would vary our kick-offs / restarts a bit; I know we did do some short ones towards the end when it was nigh on all over but before that it was the high one to Riley every time. Some sparks of invention at times though give us some hope; that was a great break which Atkins just managed to thwart in the second half.

Its hard to find fault when a team from the Championship lose's by a score like that to a team thats won the Cup 3 times in 4 years.

However, there a couple of points I would like to touch on.

Kickoffs: Danny Jones is a good player, but is kicking to the right the only kickoff he has. It got so predictable, Wire had most of their men on that side of the pitch. It wasnt just today, we have done the same kickoff for years with no variation.

Wasted sets, 1 in each half.
1st half kicked on the 1st.
2nd half kicked 2nd or 3rd tackle.
Each time when deep in the Wire half.

Incredibly annoyed by the number of tries they scored off forward passes, the ref did spot a few so obviously he was not completely unaware of them but the amount he missed was shocking. I thought just like last years fixture, the SL side got given all the benefit of the 50-50 decisions. Why would a ref do that? I think we tried force the pass a few times, obviously keen to get on the score sheet. Clumsy at times, but I honestly think we looked pretty solid compared to other games this season.

Sheffield will be a tough game but looking forward to it.

You're dead right about the 50-50 calls going Wire's way; it baffles me. It's not as if they really need any help to beat us. I forgot to say I thought the attendance was very poor. Apathy rules in Keighley. Incidentally, I saw a woman in a Bulls shirt outside the railway station today. I sincerely hope she was a tourist from Bradford on her way to Haworth or something and that she wasn't from Keighley.

Not my own words but very appropriate.

Apathy can be overcome by enthusiasm, and enthusiasm can only be aroused by two things: first, an ideal, which takes the imagination by storm, and second, a definite intelligible plan for carrying that ideal into practice.

Just like to say the pie, peas + gravy was worth the trip alone. On a serious note agree that a few calls didn't go your way + I thought the effort your lads put in didn't do the score line justice + was also told by few of your fans you've lost quite a few men who could have made a difference to your team performance today.Nearly 20 years since I last visited Cougar Park + must say not much has changed which in my eyes makes it all the more nostalgic.Good luck in the Championship.

Micheal Monaghan's introduction at half time was the reason why the score jumped so sharply in the first 15 minutes after the break. He's ripped apart most defences in SL over the last three or four years. Keighley's boys never gave up and could have had two or three more scores with a bit of luck.
Thanks for the great hospitality, see you next year !

I saw a bloke stood on the terracing outside the bar with a Bulls shirt on. Think he must have been under the impression it was fancy dress yesterday.
