Just looked on the fixture card I got from the turnstiles and it says 3 pm
kick off....... I would have thought these days there are a lot of people
that have to work as normal on bank holidays and a 7:30pm kick off would have been better.
The attendance will take a right hammering with a 3pm kickoff methinks.

I hope that's a mistake!

The Easter break tends to be Friday/Monday in Lancashire, whilst Yorkshire go for Monday and Tuesday.

A 3.00 pm KO on Good Friday in Yorkshire is an excellent way of ensuring a small crowd.

Not only will fewer away supporters not travel but those Cougar fans who work on Good Friday won't be able to attend either; and I thought that the Club needed money!

Obviously mistaken.

I have looked in various places, and everyone of them says 3 p.m.

Gonna be a lot of dischuffed fans unable to get to the match.....
And players too, i presume a lot of them work full time.

Wonder if the club would be able to change it at this late stage.

According to the rfl website (if its right) in our league on good friday.

The 2 other Yorkshire home games are evening kickoffs. The Northwest games are afternoon games.

Our game is shown as an afternoon game, very surpising as we have always played in the evening on good friday.

Though this year I miss it due to been in Jersey for a milestone birthday for a member of my family.

My workplace and everywhere I've worked in the past has had Friday and Monday off for Easter

However, if I remember rightly the Easter Friday game was always played on an evening
Has anyone mentioned this to the club?

I contacted our Chairman about this and he confirmed the 3pm kick off. The rationale he gave was as follows;

"yes the kick off is 3pm. I discussed it with Barrow and it was their preferred time to allow their fans to get to Cougar Park and also not have a late trip back. Barrow tend to bring quite a lot of paying support with them so it's economically viable for us to have it at that time.

I'd be nervous about an evening match these days as Saturday evenings aren't well attended (Swinton match this season for example) so I think, these days, Friday evenings wouldn't be as well attended as they were in the past. Certainly, when speaking to some Super League CEO's, they don't like Friday evenings as it hurts their consumer crowd although they did admit they had more corporate customers attend on Friday evenings."

Please don't shoot the messenger, I just thought I'd ask the question. Personally, I'd like to see it played later and am a little concerned that it seems a tail wagging dog scenario with Barrow having maybe too much of a say. In terms of the travelling Barrow Army, I'm not convinced they bring that many. Looking at their last 3 games they have only achieved over 1,000 last weekend against Haven in the Derby. Other than that they have averaged at between 800-900, one of those being away at Workington. I hope I'm wrong, but I can't see many attending that game.
