Keighley Cougars captain James ‘Buster’ Feather has agreed a new deal with the Co-operative Championship One club that will keep him at Cougar Park until the end of 2010 season.
Feather is the first Cougars player to put pen to paper on a new contract.
The 25-year-old hooker, who joined the club back in 2004, recently played his 100th successive game for the Cougars and is one of the club’s most consistent performers.
Barry Eaton, the Cougars’ Head Coach, said: “We’re obviously delighted that Buster has agreed to stay with the club.
“He’s a very important member of our squad and is dedicated to taking his home-town club to the top of the tree.
“It’s also important that he becomes the first of our current squad to sign a new contract for the club because he is the captain.
“We’re currently in discussions with other members of the 2009 squad about signing new contracts and we expect to make further announcements in the near future.”
Feather, a self-employed builder, said: “I was very happy to sign a new contract for the Cougars.
“They’re my home-town club and I’m very happy at Cougar Park.
“Also it secures my immediate future in Rugby League and now I can concentrate on my own game, as well as Thursday’s important game against Dewsbury Rams”.
