In particular when Cougars had ball by Rochdale line one of their players clearly knocked the ball down therefore it should have been another set of six but he called last tackle. As a result Rochdale had to do a drop out and penalised Rochdale for being offside from the dropout which I and others believe was done as he realised he messed up, I must say he did not get much help from the touchjudges.
But I must say we werre very good whilst not being at our best.
Well done to all the players.
To be fair the Officials were not good on all sides....Will Cartledge certainly looked to lose the ball in the tackle early doors ..just up in front of the old Bronte Bar..the ref gave a rip out .. certainly didn't look like it from the view from the stand ....
Much as I don't like havin ago at the ref & his mates ..but today they looked at times not confident of their decisions and almost scared of the players in the game they were officiating in... you felt that a major brawl was not far away throughout the 80 mins.
In the Pennine League ,( Kly Town N Albion ) there is an ex pro , Wilf George, former Halifax Winger , now reffing , what ever his shortcomings as an official , he actually has the maturity & physical presence behind hi to
back up up his decisions , similarly to sort out any skirmish's that occur between players.
This sort of understanding seemed to be missing with many of our officials in the NL1 today....
