This club has been there etc., etc., etc.. So Worky are possibly the next. And.............................. One way or another they will come back. BUT!!!!! That depends on the RFL. Hornets RLFC have comeback. York are a "new" club as really are the Cougars. remember "New Hunslet"? and we have Blackpool reborn. but lurking in the background are the ghosts of Prescot, Nottingham, Scarborough, Mansfield, Kent, South Wales Trafford. Chorley, Lancashire Lynx. But the game survives. |

I have read the thread and note it is fact Workington are not in administration and I hope they do not, but a worry for me is the Workington fans on the thread who seem long term supporters will read into it more than may be correct and leave the club as a result which will increase the problem. I think that Workington as a club should come clean to their fans about the situation so the fans can make an informed decision. |

Workington Town RLFC have announced that they are to release Mark Hobson, Tommy Brindle, Carl Forber and Stephen Roper from their contracts. Commenting Chairman Dave Bowden said “ It is clear that the plans we had at the start of the season have not worked and that is evident from recent performances on the pitch. Therefore in testing times financially this move is in the best interests of both the club and the players. We wish them all the best for the future. The club have already moved to bring in Brett Carter from Barrow along with Marc Shackley and Marc Bainbridge from Whitehaven and are targeting other players to strengthen the squad. |

Todays game SHOULD be a walkover but ......................... Their team will have nothing to lose. The weather is going to be hot. The Cougar players may think this lot are easybeats althought I doubt the coach will say the same. If the team play as a TEAM and utilise their undoubted skills then a good victory should be on the cards but.............. However, I really cannot see the team losing |

Actually Workington Town do not have any financial problems of any significance. In an interview with the local paper this week our chairman revealed that we are in the black at the bank and our only significant debt is £7k to HMRC. I reckon that makes us better off than the vast majority of clubs. However, what we do have is a squad of useless money grabbers who have taken the pi55 all season and they are coached by the dullest man in the world who is stealing a living masquerading as a RL coach. He has an excuse for every defeat. BTW, congratulations on your victory today. Would you believe our super coach actually went on the radio afterwards and said "well at least we got some points on the board so that's something for our fans to cheer about" ! |
