There are many ego driven mercenaries in RL. Club loyalty zero, team loyalty zero, bank balance xxxxxxx !!
The RL system has changed. Some detest change and sadly they have a narrow blinkered view but believe everything is fine. It certainly isn't.
That simply is not true.
Look at what happened when Tony Smith went to the perennial under performers Warrington:-
He spent a short time identifying the issues.
He transferred players ( even the best ones) whom he thought wouldn't change.
He told Lee Briers he would be sent out on loan to a lower division club if he didn't mend his ways.
He got the players to buy into a new team culture and work ethic.
He brought in players who would match this new ethic.
He has great man management skills but will never be one of the boys. The players know where the line is and he has demonstrated what will happen if you cross it.
Most of the teams we are competing against have similar budgets to us, some have a lot less. We should have performed better than we have this year. That failure is down to the coach ( who has now been with us 5 years) and directors between them. The coach has worked with this group of players long enough to know the issues and should have sorted them.
