Personally if there was a link with the Wolves on the table I think the club should have a serious look at it.
I understand those who have a view that the club should remain independent, but the fact is the RFL agree to this so do you cut your nose off so to speak, or do you maximise the opportunities with a view to it being a springboard to bigger and better things.
Cas was a mistake and didn't benefit us one bit. Maybe there was a element of panic in that decision.
If there was a promise of quality players being available to improve our squad then why not? I agree that we shouldn't just accept fringe players to the detriment of our own players, but if the quality was there? Having full time pro's around the training ground can only help the young players so maybe a win win.
The deal has to be right for both clubs and include some element of sharing best practice. The link should not just be about on the field stuff.
I was against "dual reg" when it first came out and have seen nothing to change my mind.
It was a money saving exercise by SL clubs and a smoke screen to introduce Australian style "feeder clubs" by stealth.
Warrington and Swinton completely took took the pee last year and went against the principles that were originally set down.
I have nothing against Warrington, I like watching them play and would be quite happy with loaning a young promising player for a fixed period of time to fill a shortfall. However we should not be the recovery table for injured SL players (who can replace our own at a whim), nor be the development field for young players that can be drawn away at a moments notice.
We loose both continuity, identity and the ability to plan and we turn off both our own young players and those squad members who have to sit on the sideline who must see it as a slap in the face.
I see nothing wrong with "bona fide" agreements with SL clubs to share best practice, facilities, players or anything else as long as both sides genuinely benefit, there are no "hidden agendas" and the "lesser partner" has the right to say no without souring the deal.
I have only been wrong once and thats because I thought I was wrong but I was wrong I was right!
Petty authoritarians aren’t man enough to challenge the actions of a person face to face; instead they incite a forum of rumour, innuendo and half truths, and impose rude sanctions to discourage those who dare question fairness.
