mark cavendish darren clarke alastair cooke luke donald mo farah dai greene amir khan rory mclroy andy muuray andrew strauss only 1 winner for me, cavendish. bit disappointed to see 3 golfers and 2 cricketers in there when they could have included someone like the triathlete brownlee. still at least theres no footballers in the list. sam tomkins picked up a few nominations from the individual newspapers and mags that come up with the final list. you can see who voted for who on the beeb website |

Darren Clarke for me - think the whole of Golf cheered when he won the Open. Andy Murray being nominated again is for me a travesty. He will never win SPOTY until at least he wins a Grand Slam, and even then his negative style and brat-like behaviour divides Britain so much he still might lose. I'd like Farah to win for sheer effort and determination to improve but can't see it. |

It's the Manchester Evening News list which to me makes a mockery of the process. James Anderson Dimitar Berbatov Darren Clarke Glen Chapple Rory McIlroy Keri-Anne Payne Paul Scholes Andrew Strauss Yaya Toure Patrick Vieira Berbatov and Vieira - Seriously? ![]() Agree with Kerri-Anne Payne though - IMO our best Sportsperson at the moment. Dominating her sport. |

Our heroic cricketing team are shockingly under-represented, half of the people on that list don't even compete in "sports". |

Darren Clarke - Won the Open. Great story but......only one winner for me..... Mark Cavendish - Won the Road Cycling World Championships (only 2nd ever Brit to do this), Won the Green jersey at the worlds largest annual sporting event - the Tour de France (winning six stages along the way). |
