Came as a shock to me this - wasn't aware he was ill.

Always an interesting character Dilley and he had real pace and could swing the ball away. I wasn't old enough to remember his heroics in 1981 (although I've seen the footage plenty of times) but when I started getting into cricket he was our premier fast bowler having picked up a lot of wickets on a NZ tour.

I remember him well from the 80s. Cracking bowler and a handy lower order batsman (lefthanded even though he bowled right, IIRC)

Used to see him around Loughborough alot, where he was coaching, and saw no sign he was ill last time I saw him a few weeks ago so it must have been very sudden.
