Last season's bargains have all risen sharply in price. There must be some good value amongs the newly promoted teams but it's difficult to be sure which players will shine, or even play regularly, just yet. Will Wes Hoolahan at Norwich be this year's Charlie Adam? DJ Campbell is at QPR now and he scored regularly for Blackpool last season.
I'm a bit wary of picking players who've just changed clubs although I've made an exception with Ben Foster, and also of players from teams with new managers. Fulham's defenders were good value last season, but will thay be as tight at the back this time around? Darren Bent did well after moving to Villa, but will their team be set up to give him the service he needs under McLeish?
