There's a good young jockey I've been following for some time riding at Huntingdon today - seen her and her sister (who's better IMO but yet to ride under rules) at point-to-points and she's certainly one who can get the best out of a horse (not neccessarily with the whip but they seem to run for her - great horsewoman). Anyway I digress, she has three rides at Huntingdon today, don't particularly fancy any of them at short prices but given these are going to be 8/1+ and she gets on well with them they are worth small each-way bets and an each-way multiple. 14:10H - Viable @ 22/1 (Skybet, Boyles, Sporting, Bluesq etc) - Given a mark of 110 for his first start in a 'chase handicap. He has a cracking record at the track (2 wins and 1 2nd from six starts - includes two falls, all starts over hurdles) and though his jumping needs to improve he's priced competitively. 16:10H - Coat of Honour @ 15/2 (Sportingbet) - Formerly useful hurdler who's lost his way since going over fences and might fair better now trying Hunter Chases having won one and been placed in one from two starts (both at Fakenham) last season. It's the first time Gina Andrews has ridden the horse and it's interesting that his first three wins of his jumping career came at right-handed tracks (next 4 were all left handed). 16:40H - Risaala @ 25/1 (Bluesq) - Contested only "Junior Bumpers" at 1m 5f and 1m 6f thus far in her career though the first of those was an easy success at Towcester, a course that takes some staying and she ran well enough when failing to follow up in what looked at the time a decent race at Newbury next time out (won by a gambled on Don Cantillon filly). She'll appreciate the step up in trip the jockeys 7lb claim negates the penalty she has for her Towcester win. The only other bets I'm having today are out in the desert of Dubai, Indian Chant (17:40 Meydan) has some solid form on dirt in the US - including when in behind top sprinter Benny The Bull, he's been off the track for a long time but his times on Presque Isle Down's tapeta surface (same as tonights race) compare favourably with the times of the only other previous course winners since it opened in January (including tonights contestants Sir Gerry and Star Crowned) and although he's a big horse who his jockey thinks will improve for the run he's worth a bet at the current price of 66/1 (Boyles, Corals, Stan James). The final bet I'd advise is on the Spanish raider Silverside (15:05 Meydan) who's trainer Mauricio Delcher-Sanchez has a cracking record when campaigning runners outside of his native Spain (3 Group 1 winners from 4 runners in Europe - Suances, Equiano and Bannaby X 2) and he sent Aranel to the carnival last week, for a race in which he finished runner-up at 33/1. Aranel has a similar profile to Silverside in that he's contested open group and listed races in France prior to coming to Dubai and I expect he'll run a big race off the back of some easy wins in his home country. He's worth an each-way interest at 20/1 (Boyles, Paddy Power, Stan James, Ladbrokes) |

It was 11/8 earlier with Hills most 180's and if that is still there that could be the way to go as even in the World Final Whitlock won that battle 11-9 and an off colour Taylor is surely going to dip in that department probably more so that say his finishing. |

Some awful handicaps being offered by for the rugby: Bet 365 are going: Crusaders (+12) Leeds (-6) Warrington (-6) Saints (+2) Looks tempting. Hull -4 Wigan -8 Catalans -6 are the others I'm going to have someting on the first 4 and I'm tempted to stick a couple of £ on all 7 games because some of those look way off. Only one that looks about right on paper is Wigan v Rovers imo. |
