the goalkeeper was down on the ground injured outside the area and a player crossed the ball into Di Canio who caught the ball instead of putting the ball into an open net.

the bottom line you can say what you want but i bet that for years to come Henry will be remembered for that alot- you know its true because the Maradona incident still gets brought up now.

That was very sporting of Di Canio. But IMO it's pretty easy to be sporting when there's nothing riding on the outcome. Everton and West Ham were just involved in more mid-table dullness. It made pretty much no difference to either side that Di Canio did that.

If Henry had let that ball run out of play then France would probably be out of the World Cup. There'll be about 5 French football fans who would have preferred Henry not to have handled that ball. 30 million French football fans will be delighted France are in the World Cup and probably couldn't give a to55 how the goal came.

Said that to my mate before, if Gerrard does that to keep us in the CL this year, there'll be no complaints from me.

Seems to be a lot of excusers for cheats today. I mean, you don't find a victory ultimately tainted when one of your players cheats?

I don't think France fans "not giving a to55" (whatever that means) exhonerates Henry for his antics. He has brought the game into disrepute and ultimately calls to question the credibility of France's very appearance in the world cup. And what of the Ireland fans? I bet they "give a to55". Do they not count?

Cheats should be hounded and embarrassed for what they are. Particularly persistant ones like Henry and Gerrard.

It's OK to be racist against the French but not the Irish...great logic.
ie cheese eating surrender monkeys, froggy tw@ts, petulant froggy twa@t etc etc.

Has Henry tried to explain himself yet and cover what was downright cheating?? The old "it was a natural reaction" answer as players tend to do??

My girlfriend is French and a passionate fan of Les Bleus and Henry is her favourite player. She was embarrassed for what he did and it tainted a very exciting match. I think Henry and Gallas' reaction told the whole story after the goal and the game. A shocking act of cheating and terrible officiating. It would be nice to see FIFA act and get the technology nearly all fans want after this but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Well his diving doesn't bother you so why would any other form of cheating
