Best decision John Williams has made in years getting rid of Ince and bringing in Allardyce. Now with the money we should get for RSC he can start to shape the team how he wants it.Great send off for Tugay today from the crowd,he'll go down as a Rovers legend.

Just watched Shearer's interview on SSN.
Don't think that Shearer said a word wrong TBH. He didn't say that the previous managers weren't good enough, he said that the players weren't good enough, he wasn't good enough, Ashley wasn't good enough, and included Kinnear and Keegan in with that. One name he didn't mention was Sam Allardyce, for obvious reasons.

And I'm thankful for that. I dreaded Newcastle managing to nick a draw and somehow managing to find themselves saved.

So he did say previous managers weren't good enough

The initial quote was that Shearer said that previous managers weren't good enough, inferring that it was purely the fault of past managers and it wasn't his fault.

That wasn't what Shearer said in any way.
In fairness the team he took over was hardly challenging for the title were they????
I listened to the interview myself and I'm pretty sure he said
'I wasn't good enough, the team weren't good enough, past managers weren't good enough and the owners have made mistakes'
A fair and honest assessment in my book. I don't think he was trying to blame anybody else at all. The whole club that is Newcastle Utd is just a big fooking mess!

That's exactly as I saw it too. I have to say that I never liked Shearer as a player for many, many reasons. However, in the last few weeks Shearer the manager has actually grown on me. His honesty in the last few weeks has been a refreshing change & while he's clearly never looked up to the job it's been difficult not to admire his candid assesments of his team's "performances" & the fact that he had the balls to deal with Barton in a way that his previous managers have seemed incapable.
