I guess teh rumours were right about Clipboard Chris not being popular with Mike Ashley. Martin Jol is a very good manager IMO. Likeable chap too. I think it may turn out to be a good decision. Like City did with Hughes, it all looked a bit cloak and dagger.

I am not sure if it is still on YouTube but there was a clip from a Spurs Supporters Forum attended by Martin Jol. He was asked about the Mendes 'goal' at Old Trafford. It went something like this:

Supporter: When Mendes' goal was not given, you kept calm and refrained from criticising the ref to the media

Jol: I wasn't calm. I was furious. I spoke to the referee after the final whistle and asked him why he did not award the goal. He gave me an explanation and I replied, "You are a pr**k". The ref responded with "You cannot call me a pr**k". I said, "Can I think you are a pr**k?" The ref responded by telling me "You can think whatever you want". I said "Ok. I think you are a pr**k"

Bloody 'ell, that one's got whiskers on it. I had Gary Stephenson say similar to me in a Leeds v Halifax game in the 80s. Only his went something like this: "what would you do if I called you a c**t?" - I'd send you off - "what would you do if I thought you was a c**t?" - what can I do about thinking? - "I think you're a c**t"

I just let him and the Leeds scrum half rag each other for the rest of the game and accepted that I'd get a crap assessment

Where's the £50 millions that O'Neill will demand for new players going to come from?

O'Neill could bankrupt Bill Gates and still win naff-all

United v City rescheduled to clash with Bulls v Rhinos on Feb 13th. Wonderful.

Only glimmer of hope is that the football will be re-scheduled back to 12th Feb if United are playing on the following Tuesday in the CL. When will that be decided?

I'd be looking at the plus's if i was Hughton,he's got xmas and new year off,his stock has increased massively during his spell in charge and he'll have be able to pick his next job at his leisure.

If City and United play with the lack of ambition displayed in the previous derby, I would settle for watching the meaningless, inter-city ('Derby' - my eye) game in the crater

O'Neill only ever had money to spend at Villa. He wanted more money at Villa so that he could match the ambitions of Randy Lerner (i.e. CL qualification).

RE Martin Jol: My opinion of him would go down if I felt that was some kind of joke he repeated. Ah well, still comes across as being a likeable bloke
