Some pretty funny posts on here lately.

I might as well join in and let you know that I shoved a tenner on Owen to get top scorer in the League this season, managed to get 80/1.

Another good performance by United yesterday, Giggs and Tosic looked really good. Tosic seems to have a fairly decent final ball too which is good.

Macheda has also looked good so far. I still think we lack a creative player, hopefully Hargreaves comes back and Fletch carries on his good form so we don't need to sign a new ball-winner.

Enfield Exile wrote:City fans have Welcome to Manchester banners at CoM. However, Ferguson hasn't mentioned those in the past. He's probably offended by the fact that MCFC were involved in the poster campaign. He said it was 'classless'.

It is fairly classless and very small time, however, it seems to have done its job of winding United fans / coach up, as long as he doesn't score a winning goal against us, I'll be quite happy for you to have a huge poster of a defining moment of our 18th title in Manchester. :)

Enfield Exile wrote:If he wants a great example of 'classless', he should try and remember the Munich '58 memorial poster that contained the name of the sponsor. That was probably as 'classless' as you can get.

As shocking, classless and disgusting as that was, it wasn't really a surprise. Selling out to the USA / corporate busybodies was always gunna make that happen, I'm just glad the club managed to retain a bit of its respect by deciding not to see the shirts as replicas.

I was wondering the other day why we haven't made a real push at a creative centre midfielder this summer or overspent on one, I then seen Adem Ljajic play....just hope he can adjust to the premiership. Although I'm sure more educated fans will tell me he's gash and no Michael Johnson or Lucas Lieta.

Looks good on You tube but then again most do, thought Zoran Tosic was the better of the two?

Tosic is a bit more polished due to his age, although Ljajic is more talented and will be the better.

GT wrote:Fair enough. That's just as f*cking stupid as the Cheadle flag.

I am sure that I caught a glimpse of another flag that said “NGAF”

Quote:It is a Cheadle branch flag. Cheadle isn't in Manchester. So why have "This Is Our City" on a flag for Cheadle? I know you're attempting to close ranks here, but surely you can see how daft it is? Mind you, I guess it's the done thing at city.

I did say it looked a bit silly.

Quote:Yeah. God forbid that Mancunian and Liverpudlian football clubs have an intense rivalry even though fans on both sides aren't from those cities. I guess the Mancunians and scousers out there should just forget about it? Or maybe, God forbid, some of them base it on footballing rivalry only? After all, take the city rivalry out of it and the two clubs still have huge reasons to be strong rivals. Eighteen times, five times, three times... And so on.

I know they will generally be anti-Liverpool FC. The point I was making is that these adopted ‘northerners’ become anti-scouse. It’s almost like they are ‘trying’ to be northern. It’s all very contrived.

Quote:Extreme giddiness, we're going to become one of the biggest clubs in the world, we'll be buying the best players in the world, we're the richest club in the world and you're all jealous, blah, blah... That "Welcome to Manchester" billboard is one of the most laughable things I've ever seen in my life. It's funny how one of the few decent blues I've actually spoken to about the Arab takeover doesn't like it. She sees the club turning into everything you've all slagged United off for since the '90s and doesn't like it. Most of you are lapping it up without a thought of any of that. Happy to sell out for the hope of success.

Our vision is to become one of the biggest clubs in the world. The club are not stating it as a fact. Do you suggest that we have a vision of 'top four'? If you look at the aspirations / vision of private sector organisations, many of them will say something along the lines of "To be one of the best ......... companies in the world". It wouldn't be a vision if it wasn't aspirational. It's something they aspire too, not what they expect will definitely happen.

City fans have always been able to laugh at themselves. Utd fans, in general, and the club, have shown themselves to be lacking in humour. The club don't have to laugh about it themselves, but they could try to be a bit more professional about it. It appears that a large number of fans, rather than using it as basis of some banter, or having a laugh about it, have tried to question the morality of it.

Did you see Liverpool kick up a fuss about the "Everton 2" shop in Liverpool 1? That too was a cheeky joke. I didn't see Liverpool FC whinging about it.

Fella, the person you spoke to is not representative of City fans IMO. Blues are having a laugh about it all. Personally, I am simply relieved that we are in the Prem and in existence. We were rock bottom before Frank came along. Then in the summer last year, we were close to financial meltdown once more before the takeover by Sheikh Mansour.

I am surprised that you find it unreasonable for City fans to feel overly excited about what has gone on. Three years ago we were linked with Jermaine Easter and Izale Macleod. In the past year we have brought in some top players and been linked to Kaka, Eto’o and Terry. It’s like going from being unable to buy a pair of shoes but the following week winning the lottery and choosing between an Aston Martin and Masarati as your ‘run around’.
