I'll say - he's largely been a joke since he left Barca (and shortly before to be fair) - it's all the more surprising considering he went to Milan who, I'm told, are famed for their physical conditioning of players.
Perhaps he's simply trying to get a response. After all, nobody from the club seems to have risen to this bait from just a few days ago.
Ferguson should not have said that Adebayor's agent had tried to broker a deal with United and Chelsea. I would have thought this kind of thing happens a lot, but managers don't go giving details of such dealings in the press.
I can't blame Adebayor's agent trying to get a batter deal. On the day he returned to training after a pre-season break, the player was told that Arsenal had accepted an offer from City. There's nothing wrong with his agent then looking at other options rather than simply accepting the first offer. Regardless, Ferguson should not have discussed this in the press.
As for us being 'small': I found that funny. I thought he was a master of mind games. Well, he lost this one. One-nil to Hughes.
One thing I have always liked about City fans, and the same can be said of Salford CR supporters, is that they have no problem laughing at themselves. However, judging by the views of the majority of United fans on the forums, they seem to believe that Ferguson never makes a mistakes and that he is a master of mind of games. It's as if he is some great thinker. He's not. He is a humourless, bully. A great manager but a persona non grata, whose outbursts are becoming increasingly embarrassing.

Fergie get's alot of things wrong, one being his team selection against Liverpool to name one, also signing such as Poborksy, Cruyff, Djemba-Djemba, Kleberson, Taibi, he also said " City are a small club" we all know that is wrong.
I just thought I would get other people's views about it.
I have always found Ferguson to be offensive. I would say that Hughes and our marketing team have got to him. Hughes' handling of ferguson's barbs have been exemplary. In his dealings with teh press, Hughes has been excellent, coming across as thoughtful and intelligent. His signings since he came to the club, have been very good. I just hope his tactics are spot on this coming season. Last year, he got some things wrong but I put that down to a 'lack of options'.

Hughes knows Fergie.
But Fergie is a man who is always best under pressure, and he may say some daft things, but he will also make his side back the talk up with results. That is why he has last so long and won so much.

And Hughes's response:

I am very happy with the transfer business Manchester City have conducted this summer, and that the players we have recruited are as excited as I am about the season ahead.
"The poster campaign in Manchester is a bit of fun between fans in a similar vein as the banner at Old Trafford which counts the timespan since City's last trophy win. We're glad it's got so many people talking."
