Ah, you have witnessed the enigma that is Crewe Alex.

After a moderately good start to the season we seem to have fallen to pieces of late, only one win in the last four league games.

I opted to watch my son make his under 10, man of the match winning debut for Sandbach United last Saturday - looks like I made the right choice.

Crewe were poor, the midfield offered very little. As I said before, they were very lucky with their first goal. The second goal was a good one but after that they presented very little resistance and Oldham went at them.

The left winger/left back linked up well and put some good balls into the box but there was no one willing to get on the end of them.

Blondey who scored your first goal didn’t help the team much, he must have given away three quarters of the free kicks you conceded.

Good result for you anyway, congrats.

Our midfield hasn't started the season yet. We await their return to Gresty Road soon...........Oh hang on.......

I suppose there was an element of luck in the first goal but if you chase the ball and the keeper makes a half-assed attempt at a clearance then what the hell - credit to Barnard for persevering.

Byron Moore who scored the second stepped up from the academy this season and is going really well. We expect him to go on to have a decent career at a higher level.

Byron Moore usually plays down the left wing although Ryan Lowe drifts to that position when he is knackered or looking for a pie shop. Moore and Billy Jones have been combining very well down the left this season.

Apparently we are still looking to bring in another striker as Nicky Maynard is still some way off a return.

That doesn't surprise me. To be fair to him (Barnard) in his first two games he really was a cut above the other players on the pitch. Trouble is, he is offside way too often as our other players are just too slow to put in that last pass.

I think his frustration is starting to affect his game now. In our last home game against Millwall he showed what a prima donna he can be.

See how much confidence a goal against Leeds does for you?

As for Leeds, 94th minute winner away at Oldham, so the Gills are still the only team to take a point off us this year.

I should expect more perhaps but actually I am happy with Crewe's 1-1 draw away at Tranmere.

Well Crewe are in freefall mode at the moment - I would say they haven't got a clue but that would probably be being too kind.

Shocking performance at home last weekend.
