For me, both wings are a problem. Kuyt, Maxi, Babel and Benayoun are all good players, but are not the answer. Ideally, Kuyt would be something of a squad man, as would Benayoun. I think we could get a price for Babel, which is unfortunate as he will probably produce great things if he gets an extended run somewhere. Maxi is a player short of confidence and cannot really be judged yet.
I think Lierpool's defence is decent. I rate Insua, who will develop into a really good player. Aurelio is on his way, so we need cover. Johnson has the cover of Kelly and Darby, who are also promising. Degen should be let go to free some cash. With Carragher a year older, Rafa needs to look for a replacement. It'd be costly, but I'd look at Shawcross again. It's a shame the Yanks wouldn't free up some funds for him to be signed last summer, as Stoke will double his transfer fee now.
We definately need another striker of the top bracket. Someone who can partner Torres and someone who can replace Torres.
Jovanovic (sp?) from Liege is rumoured to be on his way, and reports on him suggest he's more of a link-up player than a centre forward. I'd go looking for a proper targetman. And not Heskey preferably.

Aye, it's just a shame his career has been blighted by injury.

Southend and Cardiff have obviously shown that they can get the money required within the time period set. Chester couldn't, mainly because the fans wanted them to go under.

Mate, I agree with alot of what you say but Insua has been gash and gets a good going over by every decent right sided player he comes up against. Insomnia ripped him a new one on Monday night. He may turn into a good player but a fully fit Aurelio is a much better option.
Agree about Shawcross. Hopefully Agger can stay fit though as of all the centre backs we have, he's the most likely to progress into a top class CB.

I can just see Beckham coming on to score and knock us out of the competition.

Insua is far from the finished article, agreed. He has a lot to learn when defending and at present, I'd prefer a fully fit Aurelio. But Aurelio is too injury prone and won't be around for much longer one would think. Insua is a fantastic attacking full-back. I think in a year or two, he'll be among the best in the PL.
I think Agger and Skrtel are both good players in their own right, by the way. Skrtel was fantastic last season (apart from at right-back at Boro) and is starting to get things right again. To be honest, I'm less convinced by Agger. He's a footballer, not so much a centre-half imo. Always thought he had the tools to be a good left-back or sitting midfielder. If Agger is going to be our first choice defender for the years to come, we need to pair him with someone who is a real old fashioned centre-back.

stop being deluded pal just realise that everton are mediocre and FFS it was only hull city you beat 5-1
Yes, but everton fans realise they are medicore. The best liverpool fans can do, when they finally realise their team isnt a patch on Chelsea, United and Arsenal is resort to comparing themselves to everton.
