1) It wasn't shown live on TV
2) He was convicted of common assault - community service is the usual penalty for that, or at least, it was then. Also, I think he was originally given a prison sentence which was reduced on appeal.

As a result, apart from being factually incorrect on every level, your post is irrelevant.

The charge of affray can cover offenses of widely different degrees of seriousness. And as a matter of course youths are dealt with much more leniently than adults.I imagine Gerrard didnt plead guilty because his solicitor advised him that he had a decent chance of being found not guilty.
