Taylor raised the bar, other players are now reaching it,Taylor is getting older,if he packed in tomorrow he would be comfortably off.
Its not his fault if commentators wet their pants over him.
Cut him some slack f.f.s.
Can you get it through your skull that it doesn't do any sport any good to have the same player winning year in year out?
Yes, Taylor as been the best darts player
ever ... by a mile.
He has also been a condescending, self satisfied, little so and so in recent times, who thinks he has a god given right to win, and further to that he's only a little more practice away from reigning supreme again in his own mind, in denial of his advanced years (as you mentioned).
It's his time to eat some dirt ... if he wants to continue ... he will eat some more. That doesn't mean to say that his time is over, it wouldn't surprise me if he finishes the winner in this latest darts tour, for instance.
But his trend will be downwards ... let's move on.
There will never be a darts player like Taylor again ... simply the best and IMHO the last of his type, I hope.
PS
Another Brit thing is to go for underdogs rather than champions. That's why Taylor has fallen foul... he was nearly always the champion. But it was OK with his fans, sheep and those that align themselves with winners.
