Master Bates has sounded out a few upgrades of Elland Road which, by coincidence I'm sure, will be completed before 2018

Think Bates specifically mentioned the 2018 World Cup when talking about upgrading Elland Road, it was on the official site sometime last season iirc

Suppose we could even try and get Wales to let us borrow the Millenium Stadium, or maybe even use Twickenham

Are UEFA Coompetitions different?

When Portugal hosted UEFA Euro 2004 two stadiums were used in both Porto and Lisbon

Move on, nothing to read here.

My understanding is that the World Cup has to be in twelve different cities, although Lord Percy disagrees, so I stand to be corrected on this.

UEFA have no such policy for the Euros.

The World Cup (again, I think) requires four 60,000 capacity stadiums and eight 40,000 ones.

Just googled it, Hillsborough holds 39,812. Don't think it would take too much work to get the extra 188 seats in!

I can't see that ground meeting with requirements actually. It's more than a bit of a dump and has about 5,000 restricted views, which would no longer be acceptable.

I reckon the FA would order almost a complete re-build for it to be utilised.

MANCHESTER CITY - PREMIER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS 2011-12
BORUSSIA DORTMUND - BUNDESLIGA CHAMPIONS 2011-12
CELTIC - SPL CHAMPIONS 2011-12
ALEMANNIA AACHEN - HOPELESS 2011-12
ST. HELENS RLFC - ER.. 3 OUT OF 5 AIN'T BAD!

Why??
Do people believe everything they read in the f*cking media??

There are still questions over South Africas abilty to host the 2010 World Cup, they don't as of yet have the infrastructure. The public transport available to be able to handle the thousands of visitors, not to mention the stadiums being ready. Not forgetting safety, 10 fans were recently killed at a qualifier in SA. Also, not liking the fact that the cheapest seats will only be available to SA residents, with the other categories being available worldwide. Be more touting go on than usual.

England, Australia and America are on standby if SA do hit major problems in their preperation. I do think they will be ready, but be plagued with problems throughout the tournament.

My understanding is that FIFA will allow one city to host two venues. For instance, London could stage matches at Wembley and the Emirates, but the rest of the country could only have one venue per city.

At France '98, even though the Stade de France was known as "St Denis", it was still considered to be in Paris along with the Parc des Princes.

Likewise, Sydney could have the Olympic Stadium and Aussie Stadium for example, but then Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and the rest would be left with one venue each.
