by the way i was staying in nottingham in 1989 and went to see forest play qpr in the lesser cup whatever it was called at the time (worthington i think). this was of course the notorious game when the fans invaded the pitch and clough hit 2 of them
Not exactly a major event in sports history but I was at the Spurs v Forest 91'cup final when Gazza did his knee in and stopped us from seeing him turn into an alltime great. If Milford had yellow carded him earlier he might never have got injured.
Yorkshire winning the County Championship at my favourite ground, Scarborough. Having to go into work, negotiate time off and travelling over to the coast on the same day made it all the more worthwhile. If it was easier and 'up the road' at Hedders it would have taken something off it. (That was my second fave tho, similar circumstances for the 2001 test at Hedders, into work first thing arranging time off and up to the ground to see butcher beat the aussies.)
I love Scarborough for cricket.
As an aside anyone else love the Scarborough ground?
I prefer it to hedders, lovely roast of beef overlooking the square (for members) . A few beers in the 'proper' pavilion, players more 'there' than hedders to talk to. Couple of pints over the road and then supper in the Golden Grill then home. A great day out.

Nah. The final three minutes four days later was much better!

Two of the sporting events that stick in my mind are:
UEFA Champions League Final, Man Utd v Chelsea, 21/05/2008, Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow.
An event that I will remember forever. A great experience. Viva John Terry.
UEFA Champions League, Man Utd v Real Madrid, 04/2003, Old Trafford.
Despite winning 4-3 on the night United were knocked out of the CL. The match lives in the memory for Ronaldo's hat trick and seeing all of Old Trafford rise and give him a standing ovation as he left the field. A surreal moment.

Although I wasn't there the greatest sporting moments I have witnessed on TV include
Maradonas demolition of England in 86 - even as a 6 year old I remember it like it was yesterday - his hand of God goal is still to this day a great sporting moment while his second goal was world class.
Jimmy Glass the goal keeper scoring for Carlisle in the last minute to keep them up.
Sally Gunnell winning Gold in the 92 Olympics.
Man U in 99 and LFC in 2005.
St. Helens RFC - 2014 League Leaders Shield Winners & Grand Final Winners
