On the bright side, the answer to England's problems at number six continued in good form this morning before being dismissed for 182 in the end.

McGrath unbeaten on 84, Yorkshire 415-8 at lunch.

Showers forecast for tomorrow apparently, so now there's no more bonus points to be had it might be worth declaring and having a bowl.

The inevitable self-serving statement from Graves has arrived. Guess what - he's not in the wrong. If they wanted a plodding builder of pressure, then clearly Shahzad is not the man. If they were trying to make a 90+mph bowler who can move it both ways into someone who bowls for his economy rate, then Shahzad's best off out of it. Best of luck to him.
