If you can't see them staying up if he goes, realistically what do you think they'll do if he stays? IMO it'll be massively hard for Burnley in the Premier League, whether he's there or not. If Burnley are relegation candidates during the whole season then he'll just be a struggling Premier League manager and his stock will fall. Right now he's just won promotion with an unfashionable side and can bask in that. If he could add to that by winning the Scottish league title then he's made massive steps towards becoming a top manager.

I'm reminded a little of Glen Hoddle taking Swindon up and then taking over at Chelsea. Hoddle went on to manage England while Swindon went straight back down. Would Hoddle have been helped by scrapping to keep Swindon in the PL? I don't think so.

Bit of a difference between Celtic and Burnley though ,methinks - If he`s successful at Parkhead he can get a job more or less anywhere - gets relegated after one season at Burnley and he`s back to been waterboy.
