Mickelson has that "x-factor" which endears himself to the heart of Americans, the stuff only Woods can dream of having that kind of "respect".
He's the boy next door, well mannered, successful, takes defeat well, is humble in victory and is enshrined in the game.
Woods just cares about Woods, and bollox to the rest. Maybe that's why he's been so successful, but not many share his philosophy to sport in general.

Mickelson is the guy you can have a drink in a bar with, afterwards. Woods just wouldn't go into the bar in the first place.

Yeah Phil Mickelson seems like a really nice bloke who would happily talk to anyone and is obviously a big family man and very down to earth, the complete opposite to Woods in the last few years you might say

I'v always been a fan of Mickelson but even more so since he was diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis, I have it myself (and weirdly was diagnosed just a few weeks before him) so know how tough it can be at times, so I'v got the greatest of respect for him and been an even bigger fan of his since I heard about it!

Peter Hanson is going to have to play similar to yesterday to win IMO although maybe not as many under par, bet he wishes he could have played his last 18 holes straight after yesterdays round because he was on fire.

Interesting you say that. Worked away at St Andrews a few years back. One of the lads claimed to have worked for the golf course during one of the Opens. Said Mickelson was incredibly up himself and ignored all requests. No idea how much truth there is to the story but he swore on it. Think Mickelson has mellowed a lot over recent years what with his wifes illness etc. Somebody I always enjoy watching, he can conjure up the impossible.

Hoping for an Oosthuizen victory, got a quid on him each way at 80/1. Fully expect Mickelson to win with plenty to spare though.

Mickleson has always come across as someone who is up himself and very false to me. I might be wrong but I have never been his biggest fan. I think as well, it's to do with Tiger being my ultimate idol as a kid and the "feud" they had.
