Speaking of armchairs, I hope Danny makes an appearance this season.

Probably at Anfield with Lord Lucan and Phileas Fogg, arrived there on Shergar.

 Obsessed. I might actually try and get up to a few games this year depending on ticket availability. Not working Saturdays now, like.

That ref was an absolute bell. Richardson's challenge that caused the pen was a clear red. Last man, 1-on-1, denying a goalscoring opportunity. Woeful decision. Carroll also had a goal disallowed for nothing, Anton Ferdinand diving around like an absolute talentless fool. We need to close it out early on in the second half.

Only joking mate. Know you used to have a season ticket.

Wouldn't go that far. Went to the CL games for a couple of years before being priced out. Only a teenager then like

That was a true game of two halves. The first half we were rampant, we ran them off the park and created enough chances to win it there and then. Yes, Richardson should have been off, but a decision in the 5th minute shouldn't have stopped us from winning.

The second half, well, I'm bemused. Our midfield suddenly became invisible, our first touch was appalling and our plan was to lump it up to Carroll, give him little support and look lost. If we play like the first half all season, we'll make the top 4. If our plan B is what we done in the second half, we won't improve at all. If I were Dalglish, I'd consider bringing Carroll off when we're chasing games, as he becomes such a point of focus for hoof merchants that we lose all direction and threat. We become predictable and hopeless.

We've much to improve on and much to be happy about. We needed the win to get momentum going today, but we just fell short.

Lovely statistic on Sky. Andy Carroll had six shots off target today, more than any player managed in a single PL match last season.

I'll have to see them again. Pretty sure one or two of his shots were deflected wide for corners. Whilst one was a header at the far post where he reached it a little late. I know you're trying to say Carroll is gash, hiding it behind Sky's generally misguided use of stastics isn't the way to go about it. I thought Carroll done what was asked of him today, the team aren't playing to his strengths yet though. He had a goal disallowed for nothing as well.

Didn't see the game so can't coment on his performance. I don't rate him but I wouldn't say he's 'gash'. Do you think Suarez will take the next penalty?

He was good at taking them for Ajax. It will probably be Gerrard or Adam from now on, but he's a confident lad and won't shy away from taking another. He generally played well, faded in the second half as his first touch started to desert him. Considering he's only been back training this week, 70 mins and a goal is good going. I reckon he'll get 20 in the league this year and set up over 10. Fantasy footy must-have, if I played it.
