If you are getting abuse, walk off, they are professional footballers, especially when there is the threat of a pitch invasion. Players don't normally get that angry because people in the crowd are making monkey gestures. If there weren't any other incidents, it would appear the racist abuse was also happening on the pitch, but there were more Serbian players trying to peace keep than kick off. All rather messy and one hopes they have better footage to work with than that. I just hope the players weren't in on the racism.

Steve Wigley the assistant manager was kicking off too, and from his two spells at Hull City seems the most relaxed and calm guy in the World, so something must have really provoked him.

Serbia will get a €20000 fine, half of it suspended for 6 weeks, and Rose and Wigley will both get 2 game bans.

Clearly they have a problem with racial abuse. It needs to be dealt with, and quickly.

But there are also issues with the holier than thou attitude that overflows from the English in these matters.

Racism is ignorant, but the comments from people like Sol Campbell in the build up to Euro 2012 are just as ignorant, and only cause further problems.

Quote:Unfortunately, UEFA will find a way to 'share' the blame and try to pin some of the blame on the English, whilst telling the Serbians to slap a few wrists and try to identify a few neo-nazi nutters who they can ban for life... - The sad thing is that most of them are racist, simply by the environment they are used to living in, so banning half a dozen skinheads won't make much difference.

The England players did act like fools. It was already a bad situation, and after scoring a last minute winner the goalscorer chose to run to the Serbians and slide on his knees to them. Great way to diffuse the situation. Danny Rose booting the ball into the crowd, what a diplomat.

How many Serbs have you met? How have you determined that most of them are racist?

Quote:What should actually happen, but won't, is that these countries should receive points deductions in their World Cup qualifying groups and make it impossible for them to make it to the money making showpiece events that every country strives to be at.

Is this what happened to England after their supporters terrorised the rest of Europe during the worst days of English football hooliganism?

If England go out of a tournament and town centres across the country get smashed up, are FIFA going to impose sanctions for that?

More importantly, have they checked yet whether England returned to the pitch promptly after the half time break?

Interesting statement from the Serbian FA. They've denied there was any racism at all and have said the game was played in a very sporting atmosphere both on and off the field. They reckon the incident at the end of the game was caused purely by three England players including Rose and Wickham celebrating the winning goal inappropriately, inciting the supporters and players and kicking the ball into the crowd.

It will now presumably rest on whether there is any actual evidence on camera I guess? You couldn't see anything on the TV shots they showed during the main England game.

There's a video on the BBC site with lengthy 'monkey' chanting. What can the FA do if UEFA bottle it?

Apart from the racist chanting and the problems after the game there was various objects thrown onto the field as well.

Have the Serbian F.A been pulled on that by U.E.F.A?...if not it will show what a joke outfit they are, i seem to recall the German F.A got a fine when their fans threw some dangerous balls of paper onto the corner flag area during Euro 2012...which will go to show they act all tough at their prestige tournements but turn a blind eye at smaller viewed matches.

John Terry has confirmed his lack of appeal. I think that's what they're saying.

So Ashley Cole gets twice the fine that Rio Ferdinand got for racially abusing him. But I guess Ferdinand's abuse was the wrong kind of racial abuse.

Both FA's are being pulled in over the events of last night. Of course the Serbian FA will be pulled over the missiles that were thrown on the pitch.
