he blamed parry for us not winning the premire league

I bet that was one of Real Madrids highest attendance for years the other night, only because Liverpool were in town and if you think the prices over here are steep, how come the Liverpool fans were paying either £58 or £88 to watch the game. None of the Spanish clubs seem to sell out week in week out either, so it's not as if they are banging down the doors for these VFM matches, is it.

Again, in Spain, the averages are nowhere near the capacity.

Madrid averaged over 76000 in the league last season. The averages in la liga compare favorably with the english league. How many english clubs sell out on a regular basis? The big 4 plus spurs/West ham and thats pretty much it.

You're not saying anything I haven't already covered. What I'm saying is, if it's more VFM in Spain and Italy, which is what Penguin insinuated, why aren't they putting sold out signs up every week. They are not.

Do you think £58 and £88 for a ticket the other night was VFM in comparison to what it will cost at any of the English grounds.

What about Italy, their attendances are pi$$ poor.

Spanish clubs ticket prices are very different to here, you can pick up a season ticket at Atlético, for example, for about €300 and they club have over 49,000 season ticket holders in a 52,000 capacity stadium.

However they very rarely have full houses - tickets for matchdays usually start at around €30 but start at double that when the opposition are Real or Barcelona, and often aren't quite as cheap as assumed - due to this many ST holders won't go to more than 10 games a season and they still get their moneys worth. As I posted on here a few weeks back I was going to go to Malaga v Atlético but the cheapest ticket was €100.

One of many reasons for the "lower" crowds in Spain, and probably many other European countries, is simply a cultural thing, actually going to the football week in, week out is a very English thing - most people I know in Spain eat out at restaurants 4 or 5 times a week with their families and/or friends and don't have the money to spend on football tickets, priorities are just different as is the lifestyle - you can also watch all La Liga games live on television.

I agree about Italy. Thats why I didn't bring them into it.

£58/£88 is prob 60/90 euros. Last year the same price tickets would've cos around £40/£70. Not Madrids fault the exchange rate is on it's @rse.

If Madrid played had the same capacity as Old Trafford they'd be putting the sold out signs up every week. The emirates would be too small for Barca. Athletico Madrid/Valencia would fill a ground the size of Anfield/Stamford Bridge. There's not that much difference really.

I'm amazed Parry has lasted this long at Liverpool, surely they should have been able to take much better advantage of the money and profile the Premier League has gathered over the last 10 years?
