you obviously haven't followed the managerial career of Mr Henry James Redknapp !

Joe Allen - Young player, clearly talented and looking like the type of player that could contribute as a starter for a long time. He's also young enough to give us good years and be sold for a good amount in the future.

Fabio Borini - Another young player who the manager has worked with before and clearly liked. Quite a high fee but for a 21 year old versatile forward, it's pretty decent money given the 'pedigree', if you will. If he improves he'd easily sell at a profit, whilst he's versatile and determined enough to always have a place here. He's probably the riskiest of all signings, but he's a high character player who, IMO anyway, seems too determined to come here and fail.

Fully appreciate those assessments, but to be fair, with those descriptions 12 months earlier, you could replace Allen's name for Jordan Henderson's and Borini's for Andy Carroll.

Your signings, on paper, are no more impressive than last year's....As with last year's, only time will tell how they will fare.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

I must admit, that's not the type of "Liverpool helpful" I would have imagined you googling :D

Not really. Allen is more developed than Henderson, whilst Rodgers has worked with him, giving him far greater knowledge of his ability than what Kenny and Comolli had of Henderson. It's still a risk, but it was clearly less of a risk given Rodgers experience working with Allen.

Borini is more of a risk but you can't compare him to Carroll. Carroll was a one-dimensional striker, only capable of playing one way and never seemed to fit in with Liverpool's style. Borini is a versatile player who can play up front and out wide. He's already shown in his time here that his style of play can fit in, but he is a young player and not the world beating type like Hazard, so it will take him a while to develop and fit in. Carroll was £35m, Borini was about £10m, to say they don't look better on paper when we've spent half the money and have arguably two players better to suiting us and our style is a bit silly IMO.

Jeez. Joe Allen is now Xavi, Rodgers is the new Guardiola and Borini is the new Torres.

July they're world class players
August they're premier league players
September they're Liverpool players.

Suarez is the problem, most of LFC's attacks end with him blazing one into the stand or getting tackled whilst trying to take on five men in the box.

I know it's your attempt at a bit of light humour Mark, but nobody has ever said any of these players are world class or anything close. Saying we've had a better transfer window than most recent ones is a fair assessment.

Suarez is struggling, of that there is no doubt, but his problem seems to be he's trying too hard, but if we continue to struggle to score as a team, he's only going to keep on trying harder. His decision making has been pretty poor so far this year, but he seems to be playing with a sort of desperation he really shouldn't need, but the longer we struggle to score, the more desperate he'll get to change that.

Suarez is struggling cos' he's not getting the service he deserves from the likes of Stevie G and others who are just not cutting it at the moment, and when Reina starts to look shaky as he has done so far this season then the team really has big problems...Allen looks superb and never stops running but he can't do it on his own

To be fair, i live in Runcorn, the kids round ere are forced into LFC shirts upon exiting the womb
