He then (in summer 97) sold - David Ginola, Les Ferdinand, Peter Beardsley, Tino Asprilla (in Jan 98), replacing them with the likes of John Barnes (years past his peak), Ian Rush (years past his peak) etc, finished 13th in his first full season and was sacked only 18 months (approx) after taking over.

So, whilst he has been a great manager, he was the guy who dismanted a fantastic Newcastle team and created one which in all honesty was very poor.

:SHHH: That wasn't Liverpool though so it doesn't matter.

Mate he's undoubtedly a legend, but the harsh reality is he's not done anything major in football since 1995 with Blackburn, don't see how that can be denied.

Liverpool haven't got the heart for Premier League football. Too many foreigners, too few with any spirit. If they had suffered a bad injury list this season they would not have had the heart for a relegation battle.

So many of them play the game with an 'oh it's so cold' eternal victim mentality. They a pish poor. If Everton had a striker of real quality we'd have been all over Liverpool's league position this season rather than sitting next to them whilst laughing at their decline.

On the flip side of the footballing coin I watched Mr Messi score a hat trick tonight. What do people reckon about him being the most talented footballer ever, already? He's only 23 and is just incredible.

Will never be Ginola, Asprilla or Robert, but he is very good.

Trying to talk down things he did with other clubs as nothing is small time and stinks of people without football brains an only see want they want.

As for wibbling or wibbled if it goes tits up at Liverpool he will take the blame and hide behind nobody.

Its funny though 5 days into the job and people can't wait to stick the knife in what a shock that is.

So what your saying is that a managers track record should not be discussed? Kenny stunk the place out at Newcastle and presided over a truly terrible season at Celtic. Wasn't that the 'Super-Caley-Go-Ballistic-Celtic-Are-Atrocious' season? Kenny should be judged on what's he done in the past and not on some nostalgic dream that the Liverpool fans have. Kenny might well turn your lot around but he's not exactly made a great start has he? Until he proves himself again there will be a large cloud hanging over his appointment to all but those with scouse specs on.

It's like watching a bunch of deluded Newcastle fans wanting Keegan back.

Difference being, we didn't actually want Keegan back but ended up getting giddy when he did. And we certainly weren't singing for his return like Liverpool fans have this season.

If a Liverpool fan were to apportion blame for Liverpool's dramatic, incredible, astonishing fall from being European Champions to being done up like a kipper by Blackpool twice, what percentage would go to Rafa Benitez and what to Woy Hodgson? Where is the milk in your bottle?

I see Wayne Bridge has joined West Ham today. What a fall from grace that is. I remember people on here arguing that he was better than Leighton Baines. How silly that looks now.
