Challenge Cup Fourth Round Draw The death of ex-Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher changed plans to broadcast the prestigious fourth round draw for the Tetley’s Challenge Cup live on national radio, as BBC Radio 5live opted to continue its’ coverage of the deceased past premier.
The draw was instead carried live across some local BBC radio stations.
This was the most highly anticipated draw of the season, where the Superleague sides join the competition for the first time, and as usual it threw up a couple of all Superleague ties. The draw was held at the Halliwell-Jones Stadium, home of the Cup holders, in front of representatives from all clubs still in the competition.
