She seems to take no interest in the Warriors whatsoever, apparently being much more involved with the Latics. You'd have thought most politicians would be only too happy to see World Champions in their constituency, but it seems not. I can't imagine that the Club have not made friendly overtures in the past. Is there a sub-text here? Can any of the site regulars throw any light on this? It's something that's always puzzled me.

To be fair, I have seen her post about Rugby League quite recently in a tweet on social media when she became Secretary for Culture, Media & Sport. She was also involved in a 'skit', I can't think of how else to describe it, on social media with Hacker Dog from CBBC and Rugby League got a mention alongside football.

I guess you can always do more in anything really so I do take your point.

I think she has seemed more lopsided towards the football club in recent years as she was involved in trying to save them when they have been victim to wretched owners of the past.

she's a media showpony and only pops up when there is a chance to get onto TV for a bit of self publicity

i'm quite happy she has nowt to do with the club and stays well away :)

She’s a complete waste of space. Her acceptance speech following the election treated many true Wiganers with contempt.

She would be a stain on your club . Politicians are hell bent on destroying our culture and society , keep her well away .

I have no time for her either (in fact I refused to vote for Labour, largely as a result of her witless mouthings). She is the Minister for Sport, and we currently have male XY boxers in a ring with women at the Olympics. and all we hear from her is a deafening silence. But I just wondered whether there was some particular issue here. I agree we can manage fine without her.

What do you actually expect her to come out and say?

They have legally qualified under the IOC rules.

"It was an incredibly uncomfortable watch for the 46 seconds that it lasted and I know there is a lot of concern about women competitors about whether we are getting the balance right in not just in boxing but other sports as well," Lisa Nandy, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport.

Is this the same Lisa Nandy who said, "I think trans women are women, I think trans men are men, so I think they should be accommodated in a prison of their choosing" ?
