England Rugby League confirms Men’s, Women’s and Wheelchair head coaches England Rugby League today confirms that Shaun Wane (Men), Stuart Barrow (Women) and Tom Coyd (Wheelchair) will be the national teams' head coaches through to the 2025 World Cup in France.
Wane took England's Men to the semi-finals of RLWC2021, where they were agonisingly beaten by Samoa in golden point extra-time at London's Emirates Stadium.
England's Women also suffered semi-final heartbreak at RLWC2021 – Head of England Pathways Barrow is now tasked with taking the side one step further at RLWC2025.
Barrow will be assisted by the Leeds Rhinos head coach and former England captain Lois Forsell, and Dec Hardman, who was the head coach of St Helens when they secured a Women's Challenge Cup and Super League double in 2021.

Good news.
We bombed that semi but it was pretty sad to see how many people were waiting for the opportunity to jump on Wane. The rest of the tournament was instantly forgotten and we’d played some of the best rugby seen by our national side in years.
Wane has to throw off the comfort blanket of his ex club players but I’m sure he’s learned lessons and there’s nobody I’d rather have in charge.

Anyone any idea what he actually does at Wigan anymore?
For me, him being the England coach could either be great or an absolute disaster. Imagine being Smithies, or Smith and having to negotiate a new deal with Wane in the room - especially when he thought Marc Sneyd was a better option than you. Snyed FfS.
Likewise, there's plenty of talk about Thompson for 2024. Wane dropped him etc. Hardly the best start to a negotiation.

Thompson might be best left alone. Read earlier he’s gone down in training and is out for at least 6 months. Add in his head knocks and it’s a huge gamble.
