Wigan Warriors have announced their squad numbers for the 2021 season. Following Sean O’Loughlin’s retirement at the end of the 2020 campaign, the returning John Bateman will wear the famous No.13 jersey, as he prepares for a second spell with the Warriors following a two-year stint with Canberra Raiders in the NRL.
Other new recruit, Jai Field, has been handed the No.6 shirt, while Bevan French will wear the No.1 jersey after a stellar 2020 season at full back.
Zak Hardaker has been given the No.3 shirt for his consistent and impressive role at centre in 2020. Other notable changes see Dom Manfredi as No.2, Liam Marshall in the No.5 shirt, Brad Singleton being handed the No.8 jersey and Joe Bullock as No.10.
Oliver Gildart (4), Thomas Leuluai (7), Sam Powell (9), Willie Isa (11), Liam Farrell (12) and Jackson Hastings (31) are the six players who retain their respective numbers from last season.
Oliver Partington (14), Morgan Smithies (15), George Burgess (16), Tony Clubb (17), Liam Byrne (19), Harry Smith (20), Ethan Havard (21), Jake Bibby (22), Mitch Clark (23), Chris Hankinson (24), Joe Shorrocks (25), Jake Shorrocks (26), Kai Pearce-Paul (27), Sam Halsall (28), James McDonnell (29), Umyla Hanley (30), Ben Kilner (32) and Amir Bourouh (33) have all been given new squad numbers.
Since 2008, the No.18 shirt has been awarded to the Wigan Warriors fans as a way to recognise their valued and loyal support and that is no different for 2021, after some amazing displays of loyalty once again from such a large section of our fanbase throughout the testing times of 2020.
Fans who went the extra mile this year and offered to donate their season ticket credit back to the Club can look forward to seeing their name on display in the new year, with plans to install the Fan Wall within the indoor track area at Robin Park Arena when the players return for pre-season training, while the Fan Appreciation Shirt is now in production and is set to be distributed in line with the start of the new Super League season in March.

Surprised Jake Shorrocks has got a new deal. Nothing unexpected other than that.

I wouldn’t rule out players going because they have a squad number tbh. If they stay that will be their number, if they go then that number will be freed up. With talk around that Burgess, Hankinson and Clark may go, I’d personally hold off getting their names on the back of any kids shirts (not that I think they’ll be flying off the shelves anyway).
Jake Shorrocks staying baffles me. The fact he’s still clinging on here is a major part of why I’m convinced he’ll never cut a top level career anywhere. He just seems too comfy at the club and unwilling to chance his arm elsewhere. He has at least 4 players in front of him for 2 spots and is still here. At one point it was a positive that he wanted to fight for a spot but it’s gone well beyond that now.

I would say that but I'm inclined to trust that Rogues wouldn't say something unless he knows something.

Wouldn’t get too worked up about squad numbers, they’ve just been rushed out so kids can get their favourite player on the back of their shirt for Xmas.
This doesn’t mean Clark, Hankinson, Burgess etc are still hear next year. Also doesn’t mean we aren’t signing anyone else.
RICHARDS IS SUPERMAN!!!!
