Lot's of if's and but's, however, if we release all of the OOC players, all the unwanted players, and Lockers and Tommy retire, this is going to make a big wedge of cap available.
So, if Lammy is either sacked or decides to go back to Oz at the end of the season, is it fair to expect a new coach to come in to work with players he may not feel he needs, and all of the available cap money has been used by his predecessor.
2021 is probably the last season for a while that a significant amount of cap space is available for squad strengthening.
So the conundrum is, assuming the coach still identifies the players that he wants to sign, if a new coach is to be brought in for 2021, should Lammy stay and see the whole 2020 season out, or should the new coach be brought in to work with the current squad mid season, thus giving him time to identify areas he needs to strenthen, and which players he wants to sign.
Obviously form at that time of the coaching decision is a crucial factor, but 2021 presents a great opportunity for the club to get it right for many years to come, and possibly enjoy a prolonged period of success, so it is vitally important for IL and KR to ensure that they don't cock it up.
