Cant see this going ahead.

France have today closed all but essential shops and closed the borders to travel.

The question has to be how long will it be before we play again.

Scary and unprecedented times

Emergency legislation being pushed through by the Govt to ban mass gatherings. I think we’re only a few days shy of seeing the SL season being suspended.

The NRL won’t be far behind given the NZ Govt’s new border policy (everyone who enters must go into 14day quarantine with exceptions to Pacific Islands).

Sad and unprecedented times. It seems my comments on a thread previously re COVID19 may have been misjudged and uneducated.

At best they may squeeze another round or two in behind closed doors but even that looks exceptionally unlikely. I suppose in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter but some clubs may struggle to come out of the other side of this.

It all feels very 9/11 in terms of significance.

Still can’t believe this is happening.

Usually in times of crisis you turn to sport to escape things, all very sad.

Think we may see this swapped or postponed but others carry on without spectators. Depends what the RFL’s contingency plan is, but no one will have any faith in them.

I think the last point is why the RFL haven’t suspended the season. It’s a near certainty that some clubs will go bust as a result of a season suspension. The RFL can’t afford to bail out multiple clubs so are looking to prolong the season as long as they can.

They can't but if as is likely most or all sport is suspended then let the cards fall where they may, keep playing behind closed doors and once this is over people realise their season tickets have been played away, a fair few will vote with their feet and not renew sending the clubs under anyway.

No doubt money will be available to help these smaller clubs, the budget certainly seemed to be awash with money for business affected by the outbreak, is there a need to go the behind closed doors route?

And lets be fair Rugby league is a high contact sport, all the sweatsuit etc this is a virus we are talking about not a broken legit time to be sensible at least for a week or two and suspend the season.
