There is an interesting book now on sale in the club shop. It is the Rugby League Review Number 2 and features articles about rugby league from around thirty writers. There is "Green Without Gold: The Green Vigo Story" by Hendrick Snyders, two articles on the game between Wigan and Bath, Rugby League in Cuba, Eddie Waring, Northern Union Rugby in 1908, How cricket helped pave the way for rugby league in Australia, a good plug for the game by David Watkins and eight obituaries including those of Eric Ashton and Billy Blan who had once played for the Squirrel Hornets from Scholes in the Wigan Intermediate League.
Well worth a look at or maybe a present for Fathers' Day!

i think some of us know all about the green vigo story without reading it.

which story would you like to hear? the gun wavinmg in hallgate? the attempted entry with manace in ince, the platt bridge labour club incident, the squirrell arms incident, the incident in whelley.......there are just too many.
if the authors done a thorough job then i reckon it will be a good read.

was sad in a way how he went.......he came over from south africa where he had never touched alcohol, and was introduced to it by colin clarke, terry cass, and a few others iirc.........
i used to bump into em in maximes on a saturday, and i knew terry.

sadly the last time i saw him was last year on ince bar at 11 in the morning drunk as a skunk trying to get a taxi to somewhere or other with a couple of deadbeats.

legend on the field though
