Post subject: | Tommy Signs New Contract |
Just come up on bbc sport that tommy signed a new 3 year contract, I for one can only hope that this means he's on reduced money (lenegan stated when he arrived he was on twice as much as he'd been on at quins) and also that he is our long term plan for hooker, not scrum half. |

Great news IMO. Tommy is an excellent player, and clearly loves playing at Wigan. The debate is an interesting one about 7 or 9. He isnt your traditional creative 7 but one that i love to see attack the line. Best step in SL. |

Excellent news. Tommy has been one of best players this season and one of the few signings who have actually improved during their time at Wigan. Players like Tommy are the future of this club and it’s excellent to see him being signed up to a long term deal. |

Personally I'm pleased. Tommy, while not a creative genius, is an aggressive broken-field runner and can cover both 7 and 9 effectively (though it's in the latter role where I feel his real future lies). What this means for McIlorum at Wigan I don't know, but Tommy I feel is the more effective and useful player. Despite opinions in some quarters, it's not just about whether he's a born Wiganer or an ex-Academy player. If he's a genuinely good player, I don't care where he comes from. |

Never a truer word said mate. It doesn't matter where you are born as long as you’re committed to the Wigan cause and show pride in the shirt. Tommy does this for me and signing this extension shows his commitment to the club. |

By all accounts he was shredded after the defeat by Saints, almost in tears he was so frustrated and angry. He desperately wanted to win that game - an attitude we need to see throughout the team. |

Great news, he loves it at Wigan. I personally think that he will stay at 7 with Tomkins 6 and Smith going home at the end of the year and Piggy and McIlloram for 9. I would like to see McIlloram loaned out for a year and a 6 come in and Tommy go to 9 with Piggy and Tomkins go 7. Who knows with IL and BN though, plus theres not many 6s of real quality knocking about. |
