I know Wigan are not good enough and the coach has had long enough but I feel we have played some teams at the wrong time.
Wakefield...were always going to play well after their off-season tragedy
Hull...played well at the time but have since hit the buffers
Castleford...Were in a rich vein of form but are now poor.
Harlequins...played well and we were lucky to beat them
Bradford...were poor so this was an exception
Leeds...probably their last good performance was against Wigan. Even Salford and Bradford have beaten them recently.
Salford...the second team we have played at the right time. Playing well now.
Huddersfield...plyed quite well against us but have since improved so maybe we played them at the right time.
Barrow...played well against us and only lost because we are a divisioon higher.
St Helens...is there a good time to play them?
Catalans...I said to rogue they would hit form and he replied that he hoped it would be after Easter Monday. To play away for the second Easter match isn't great.
Celtic...Good time to play them because of biggish defeats and injuries.

Aye, just after they have a tough game against Leeds, when we have an easy one against Barrow and they're missing Long, Cayless and Flannery. We definitely played them at the right time.

Sorry but to me that is just plain clutching at straws - can we only win when the opposition are poor?

The league table doesn't lie - the team are where they deserve to be on the basis of the performances - nothing can disguise that.

Castleford - poor ???  We're 5th in the table with 6 wins and 3 defeats. What does that make Wigan then ? I do hope you were having a laugh.

If we are going to put the problems with the club down to bad luck then we might as well just give up now.

We have recruited very poorly in the off season and have not brought in a prop forward or a replacement for Trent Barrett. Also performances on the field and the body language of the players suggests backroom troubles at the club.

That is the problem. I keep saying it time and time again but you cannot lose a Trent Barrett and not replace him and expect to be better. We have been this poor for the past 2 seasons but Barrett has won us games that we should of lost. It has nothing to do with Nobles ability as a coach, its down to having a team that is just not up to the task in key positions. Wether you blame that on Noble or IL is your own choice, nobody knows the answer.

Do people like you just scan the net for any mention of your club name? Or is it just that Wigan still hold a weird kind of fascination for you?

This is probably the first time Cas have been mentioned on this forum in about a week, and in less than an hour, some little Cas fan has come charging in shouting.

For what it's worth, I think you make a valid point, but try to look less like you're hanging around the Wigan site all day looking for the slightest reason to chip in. It's not becoming.

I certainly don't think luck is the reason but I'm glad we didn't play Salford when Leeds or Hull played them.
These are the reasons I think we have only won 3 games.
1. A coach who only has a limited game plan that cannot be changed to meet the requirements of a particular match.
2. A wage bill that pays certain players more than their share of the salary cap so we have no money left for real class.
3. Lightweight forwards (Hansen, Tomkins, Fielden, Prescott) who are built for a running game but have to keep driving in like paperwight tanks.
4. Overweight forwards (Feka and Piggy) whom I would not pick unless they shed some weight or gave it to the above 4 (in 3).
5. Imports who merely fill up our quota instead of being key players (Bailey, Feka, Piggy, Smith, Phelps, Roberts) although some are okay. Is okay good enough?
6. Too many players who can't make a break. Only Tommy, Hock and Gleeson can bust a tackle ( and Feka when he can raise a gallup).
7. Inconsistent kicking game.
8. Fairly quiet crowd. 16,000 Wiganers should deafen 6,000 Saints' fans.
9. Same old, same old on opposition line.
10. Luck!!!!!
