Post subject:  Not far off

In my opinion, we arn't far off being a good team at the minute. Yes, last night's performance was dire, but in my opinion, it wasn't the core of the team that caused the problems and lost us the game last night.

Pryce - Noble putting him in the team was a risk, and last night it didn't pay off. Anyone who watched the reserves agianst Huddersfield will know why Noble played him, Pryce looked a cut above and looked to me like he was ready for his first team chance.

For me, Pryce lost us the game last night. 4 balls dropped dead, a pass that was so forward it was closer to being a 40/20 than anything else and defense that was quite honestly laughable. Anyone remember him trundling around 10M behind Ainscough after tommys kick? (not sure when exactly, but it was in the second half) only for Ainscough to get beaten by the Cats winger because he didn't have his centre helping him and then Pryce fell over, tripping Ainscough up after spending 10 minutes getting there?

At the beggining of the second half Tommy produces a lovely kick to win us a scrum on their 10, ball finds its way to pryce, ball hits the floor, momentum gone. Had we scored on this set we would have been right back in the game, but instead we turned the ball over.

Fielden - Same old same old, miles off the form he produced when he wanted to go to the world cup, and a million miles of bratfud form. I thought he might have a good game last night, then he got levelled about 10 minutes in and that was the end of that. Our pack got dominated last night. Walters did his homework and without feka's big runs (Riles dealt with him easily) we had absolutly NOTHING going forwards. Prescott tried hard, but without the decent senior props around Prescott isn't going to lay enough of a platform for us on his own.

We dominated them early on, and it was on the back of Coley's and Fielden (before he got flattened) hard work that won us the 14-4 lead.

Then they got taken off and we lost it. Catalans got on top as soon as we let that ball bounce and go out.

I'm not sure I agree with the Noble out stuff either. I don't think it's the coaching that makes a senior player make that many mistakes in one night, and I think Fielden needs dropping, but I doubt it will happen to be honest, because I don't think we can replace him. Celtic is the ideal time to give Ben Davies a try, or maybe recall Mossop?

Bah, I've rambled a bit here, but the point I was trying to make was I don't think we are far off with this team, maybe with George back in the team we could have won that game.

Yeah were not that far off being a good team, we just need:

- A new coach
- Passion
- Pride
- New Prop
- Set Moves
- A good scrum half
- A quality captain
- Better discipline
- The ability to catch a ball
- Defence that gets in the face of the opposition instead of taking two steps forward and waiting for them.
- The ability to run onto the ball instead of standing still all the time.

Not far off though, we'll be reet

I think you are bob on. We got owned in the forwards last night simple as. This has been our problem for several years. We seem to spend a lot of money on getting a back line that is good but give them no platform to perform.

as old saying goes 'forwards win games, backs decide by how many' we will never become a force until we get the forwards sorted out and that is a fact.

changes I would make:

fielden has to go, he is a dead weight on a big wage
Coley is not a prop but has tried hard of recent put him back in the 2nd Row
Prescott looked like Superleague Class last year this year he is way off needs more time
O'carrol looked good this year till got injured, defo hold onto
Lockers is not as good as tompkins in my opinion and is definately not a captain, lockers out tompkins in
Bailey, great in defense but offers nothing else and probably on a big wage
Riddel, stuck with him for three years, christ sake, tommy to 9 we look far better
Get a decent experienced 7 to work with tomkins
Feka, why we insist on giving the ball to him on the gain line is beyond me, he needs to be coming from deep or is a waste of time
We need two buy to excellent props and a 7
changing the coach is not the answer for me unless he has lost the changing room

Not a bad assessment

Main problem is he is damed if plays open Rugby and we play badly and Damed if we play 5 drives and a kick boring Rugby. There is a no win situation for Noble on this board

Of course there is, win games thats all we ask. Hes built the squad so hes got to take the blame for 3 wins from 10 games. A team thats maxing the cap out has no excuse to be losing games at the rate we are.
